Privacy-First Commitment: PagePulse is built with a local-first, privacy-by-design architecture. Your personal reading logs, journal notes, goals, and book collections are stored locally on your device in a secure SQLite sandbox. We do not sell, rent, or monetize your personal data.

2. Information We Collect and Process

A. Locally Stored Data (On Your Device)

The core functionality of PagePulse operates entirely on your physical device. This includes:

Library Catalog: Book titles, authors, ISBNs, page counts, covers, format preferences, and reading status (Currently Reading, Want to Read, Completed, Did Not Finish).
Reading Activity: Timestamps, session durations, start/end pages, reading speed, and daily streak counts.
Personal Notes & Journal: Reflections, quotes, and thoughts you log while reading. Notes marked as private remain strictly confined to your device database.
Reading Goals: Daily minutes, daily page targets, and annual book challenges.

B. Third-Party Book Catalog Search Queries

When you discover and add new books through the app's online search feature, PagePulse sends the search terms (such as book title or ISBN) to:

Open Library (Internet Archive): Public catalog API used to fetch book metadata and cover art.
Google Books API (Google LLC): Secondary public catalog API for book metadata retrieval.

These requests contain only the search query string and standard network headers. No personal user identity, device ID, or user account information is transmitted to OpenLibrary or Google Books.

C. Optional Cloud Synchronization (Supabase)

If you choose to use cloud synchronization features, reading sessions may be securely synchronized using Supabase infrastructure. All data in transit is protected via modern TLS/HTTPS encryption, and database access is guarded by strict Row Level Security (RLS) policies ensuring that authenticated users can only access their own records.

3. Advertisements & Monetization

No Advertisements: PagePulse does NOT display third-party advertisements. We do not integrate ad networks (such as Google AdMob, Unity, or AppLovin) and do not collect Android Advertising IDs (AAID).
No Paid Subscriptions: All core features, including reading statistics, pace analytics, genre breakdowns, and streak trackers, are 100% free and accessible.

4. Permissions Used by the App

PagePulse requests minimal permissions strictly necessary for its features:

android.permission.INTERNET: Required to search for book metadata on OpenLibrary / Google Books and download public book cover art.
android.permission.ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE: Used to check whether the device has an active internet connection to prevent unnecessary network requests.

PagePulse does NOT request access to sensitive permissions such as Camera, Microphone, Precise Location, Contacts, or SMS.

5. Data Retention & Deletion

Because PagePulse is local-first, you maintain total control over your data:

Local Deletion: You can delete any book, note, or reading session directly in the app at any time. Clearing the app's storage in Android Settings or uninstalling the app permanently erases all local SQLite database records.
Cloud Account & Data Deletion: To request deletion of any cloud-synced account data, please visit our dedicated Data Deletion Request Page or email nnirajpanditt@gmail.com. Requests are fulfilled within 30 days.

6. Children’s Privacy (COPPA & Google Play Families Policy)

PagePulse is designed for general audiences (ages 13 and older). We do not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from children under the age of 13. If you believe that a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately, and we will promptly remove it.

7. Your Legal Rights (GDPR & CCPA)

Depending on your region, you have rights regarding your personal data:

The right to access and receive an export of your data.
The right to rectify inaccurate records.
The right to request immediate erasure of your data.
The right to withdraw consent at any time.
